Egrets necks

I wonder if snowy egrets get neck problems what with all the preening of feathers in difficult places? And then there's the way they dart their necks in and out while spinning, running and fishing in the waves.

The thought occurred to me when I saw these egrets sitting on a pier with a row of terns on a foggy morning whose chilly air made my own neck ache.
