Last week I ended up on Mt. Charleston about an hour outside Las Vegas in Nevada. It was cold on the mountain and snowing at 8,000 ft. So I was impressed to see a bumble bee foraging at 7,000 ft.
A thick furry vest keeps this tundra-adapted bee warm. But the cold made it move slower than usual making it easier to film this bee which makes a characteristic "bizz buzz" as it exits the frame at the end of this clip.
