Leafcutter bee visits a nesting block in Oakland

People are often surprised to learn that not all bees are honey bees and not all bees nest in man-made hives. The truth is that many native bees (they don't include honey bees who mostly come from Italy, Russia or Yugoslavian varieties) nest in the ground or in wooden structures, like trees or this man-made nesting box.
