Beware the Pogonip

My Olde Farmer’s Almanac says to beware the Pogonip today. It refers to an ice fog that occurs, especially in mountain valleys, during cold winter spells in the western United States.

Pogonip is derived from a Shoshone word payinappih which means icy fog. And native Americans warned that crystals from a Pogonip could cause death, if they got into your lungs.
